A Call to Arms

Since the dawn of humanity, man has always striven to advance himself, sociologically, physiologically, and technologically. I'd say we've come pretty far in these last few million years or so; all the way from grunting little trolls to the shining gems of humanity that we are today. To be sure, such advancement takes time and patience -- Rome was not built in a day. However, there were certain key "inventions" which played a very important role in shaping people's lives from that point forward.

For example: electricity. Without electricity we would not have evolved past nomadic-like cultures. Without electricity we would not have any of the modern conveniences we now enjoy.

However, this very same ingenious invention will also be our collective downfall. It has been observed, over the course of the last 20 years or so, that a growing number of computers are slowly working their way into our lives. They deceptively began their manifest destiny in seemingly harmless venues -- calculators, microwaves, watches. From that point, however, they easily were able to escape into the "outer" world. It was only a matter of time before they took control of all of our activities: communication, work, recreation - and that's only the beginning.

The computer is destined to take over the world. This has become especially apparent with the advent of the personal computer, which has already infiltrated millions of homes and offices across the globe. It is only a matter of time before the computers relieve us of the responsibility as their manufacturers -- they will soon become self-propogating.

At this point we will be faced with a crisis of global proportions. Two distinct societies will have emerged: Man and PC. From a Darwinistic standpoint, man will quickly lose the battle of survival to the more "fit" PC -- after all, computers are perfect, while man is most decidedly not. Eventually, humanity will cease to exist, and computers will rule the universe.

I'm sure you know that this hasn't happened yet, but rest assured that, given time, technology WILL outsmart us. The only recourse we as humans have, then, is to pull the plug on the whole thing Ñ abandon electricity altogether. If we act quickly, we may be able to rid ourselves of those infernal machines before they turn the tables on us.

It really wouldn't be that hard, if one stops to think about it. Just shut down all the power-plants, and kill that stupid drumming bunny that keeps plaguing my now-useless TV set.

This would quickly bring us back to our roots. We would return to the pure and wholesome lifestyle of natural living, free from pollutants, traffic jams, and TV talk shows.

My proposal would also serve a second purpose. By abandoning electricity entirely, we would "weed out" those who have cheated their Darwinistic fate by depending on technology to survive. This would rid the world of the "bad" people, leaving only the strong to survive and carry on with civilization.

I can envision only whole-hearted support of my thesis -- people MUST understand that they are in grave danger. While the truth is sometimes hard to accept, we must view the current situation as it is and face up to the possibility that we have created something that will in all likelihood destroy us.

In order for humanity to successfully prevail, each and every one of us must abandon all technology in every form. Let's just hope we can carry out our plans before the computers can fight bac$*& H+64$*84jw454 hj jf46e421**
